We’ve been doing some hiking here in the desert. The weather has been great for hiking, around 65 degrees. One of our favorite places so far is Skyline Regional Park, not too far from where we are staying. It is an 8,700 acre mountain preserve located in the southern White Tank Mountains with 16 miles of trails that are great for hiking.
The beauty of the desert is amazing. The landscape is so very different from South Carolina or anywhere I have been thus far. It has it own kind of rustic beauty- all prickly and rough. There are times while we are walking and pause- we feel like this must be a scene from some western movie.
I feel like we are in a position to really enjoy the beauty that surrounds us because it is a completely new experience for us. So often, in one place for an extended period of time, you begin to ignore your surroundings, no matter how pretty, and take them for granted. Each new experience here is greeted with an appreciation for the uniqueness.
