A Birthday Party- RV Style

Today is Juliette’s 9th birthday.  She wants to go ice skating, but unfortunately, there is no ice skating to be had around Yakima (any that I can find online anyhow).  So, we decided to go roller skating.  We head to this roller rink to the east of Sunnyside, Washington.  AND….. they aren’t opened today.  I guess I misunderstood.  The diner was open- the roller rink was not.  Big bummer. So… we settled for the movies.  We watched the third Minion Movie, Despicable Me 3.  We love the Minions.

After the movie we ate lunch at Olive Garden which the kids ended up loving.  We ate off the less expensive lunch menu and they loved the endless soup and entre.

Jaelyn really made out on Juliette’s birthday this year.  Before we began traveling I promised the girls new bikes once we began traveling.  It took me awhile to fulfill that promise (I’m blaming that on their Daddy), but today is the day they got their bikes.

I had to make some ahead of time preparations for the birthday party celebrations.  We have no oven in the RV so I made the birthday cake in my crockpot.  I Googled crock pot cakes and viola, many cakes to choose from.  Juliette wanted ‘orange cake’.  Orange cake is a special cake.  We got this recipe from my friend, Sarah, who has since passed away.  Sarah made orange cake for her children for their birthday parties and my children loved it.  So Juliette had Sarah’s orange cake for her birthday.

Orange cake directions- orange cake mix, vanilla pudding mix (mix together and follow the cake instructions), bake, cool and top with cool whip.  I pretty much mixed it as I would have to bake it in an oven, put it in the crock pot on low and it bakes in 3-4 hours.  After it baked I let it cool overnight and the next morning I topped it with Cool Whip and placed it in the fridge.

Juliette had a great birthday celebration!
