A Stroll Down Sunrise Carriage Lane

I love daisies.  We saw a lot of different flowers and foliage on our afternoon walk.

We’ve been wanting to check out the Sunrise Carriage Trail for a while now as a couple people have suggested it.  After an online search I learned that this trail was constructed in ” 1905 by  former Governor William A. MacCorkle for the use of oxen-drawn wagons carrying massive stone building materials for the Mansion. Later, Governor MacCorkle used the Trail for his horse-drawn carriage.”

The trail is 0.6 miles one way.  It runs through a residential area.  The masonry remains add to the charm of this pretty trail.  Most of the trail was shaded.

Most of the flower pictures that were taken are at the beginning of the trail.  As we were driving up to the parking area we saw a doe nursing her fawns.  I got a picture on my phone, but not a good one.  It was nice just to watch.

One parking lot is ‘up the hill’ in a residential area.  The other parking lot is ‘down the hill’ by the river.  We parked up the hill so we walked down.  At the end the view of Charleston was great.
