Another sightseeing adventure- Today we are visiting Pioneer Village at the Pioneer Living History Museum.
The Pioneer village boasts many original buildings as well as reconstructed ones. Their website does a great job of explaining each of it’s exhibits and the history behind each. We had a great day exploring and again, I took tons of pictures. The Pioneer Village does an amazing job of capturing a real life picture of what the west looked liked in the 1800s. I would be very hard pressed to tell you which exibit was my favorite, but I would say the church was definitely at the top of the list.
Here is a picture of my girls dressed in civil war period garb. At this exhibit a volunteer had a large display of clothes, weapons and other items that may have been used during this period. We learned about the dress of a civil war soldier, some of his entertainment, and activities. We also learned about surgery and medical care during the civil war.
Around Pioneer Village are areas that provide cute photo opportunities.
There were multiple cabins on the property, moved from other locations in Arizona. Most built in the 1800s. Some of the cabins were set up as they would have been when they were occupied.
The buildings included a school house, church, jail house, barber shop, cellar, a bank and others. We also enjoyed seeing mine and farm equipment, farmhouse with out buildings and cemetery. There is also an area where you can pan for gold and an area where they have gunfight reenactments.
