Yesterday I had the opportunity to connect with one of my friends from home- Brandy. Brandy started working on my ‘home unit’ when I was out on maternity leave after I had my youngest daughter, Juliette. Well, apparently while I was still out on leave someone saw Brandy at work and congratulated her. She’s like, thanks, congratulations on what? Well, your new baby. Um….I think you have the wrong person. They thought she was me. She told me about the story when I came back to work and we laughed about it. Well, over the years several people have mistaken one of us for the other. We both would laugh about it and sometimes not even correct people. Patients and family would confuse us as well as staff. To this day one of the RTs, Mike, calls Brandy, Branica. Funny.
Of coarse over the years Brandy has told me stories about her family, but yesterday I got the opportunity to meet her mom and one of her brothers. It was kind of surreal. I just happened to get an assignment in Charleston, West Virginia where she is from. We met in Charleston, South Carolina, where I am from. She’s now visiting here visiting her family and I get to see her!! It was a fun time getting to hang out.
So yesterday Brandy and her mom came and picked me up and we headed to the Capital Market.…
I love the brick buildings I see around Charleston and the Capital Market is no exception. We went in checked out Mea Cuppa Coffebar where Brandy got a drink, then we starting looking for a place to eat lunch. We settled on sea food, The Fresh Seafood Co., and everyone’s food was yummy. After lunch we shopped around a bit. Brandy bought some chocolate at Holl’s Swiss Chocolates. I didn’t sample any, but they looked amazing! We also checked out some produce where I bought some popcorn to take home-
Outside there were tons of varieties of flowers and plants and some produce. After perusing for a bit it was time to call it a day.
One of my very favorite things about traveling is that I have has the opportunities to go and visit with friends. I absolutely love that I have made new friends along this traveling journey. It has also been an amazing experience to see new places and cultures.
