It’s been a tough couple of weeks. Financially, or budgetly- speaking, I guess. No more credit cards and that should be easy(good-bye, my beloved Disney card). Actually, the not spending any additional money has been incredibly easy. The getting every little single thing (aka, all the bills) onto paper budgeting- not so easy.
I’ve just always handled stuff as it came up. It was always just a bump in the road. This planning every little bill into the budget ahead of time? It’s been a real headache. And I’m a planner, or do I thought. Maybe I’m a bit more of a ‘free spirit’ than I thought. Even now as I sit here typing I can think of some things that haven’t been added to the lines on the budget. Ugh.
So, due to my lack of budgeting skills- I have over-drafted my account twice. Twice! I haven’t done that in years! Thank goodness I have overdraft protection- hey, that’s kind of like a credit card, right? It’s a line of credit. Good grief, Dave Ramsey.
I’m writing this not so you’ll think I’m stupid and extremely inept at controlling my own finances, but I’m hopeful as this process gets easier and I actually learn and get better at it, that I will be able to look back and see that I have made progress.
And maybe you have budgeting issues, too? And maybe I can encourage you? Or maybe you have already arrived and can be a cheerleader for me. Either way, I’m happy for the company.
