Today we visited Hurricane Ridge, a part of Olympic National Park.
The girls previously received badges at HOH Rainforest, another part of Olympic National Park, but decided to fill out another booklet (it was the same) to get an additional badge at Hurricane Ridge.
We didn’t spend too much time hiking here, but we did do a very small hike. One of my favorite things was looking at Canada in the distance. There was an information board there pointing out the mountains across the way from where we were standing. It was a novelty for us, being from South Carolina. Another favorite? The wild flowers. They were all over the place and beautiful. The views here are amazing. I never get tired of the mountains in the background.
Juliette asked one of the Rangers at the end of his talk- why is the name Hurricane Ridge? Well, why do you think it’s called Hurricane Ridge? It started as a lot of names start I suspect. A person visiting must have said My the wind is as strong as a hurricane and there you go- the name Hurricane Ridge.
