Well, our furniture was delivered yesterday, so I was able to sleep in a ‘real bed’ the night before my first day of work.
Today was a classroom day- sitting in front of the computer all. day. long. – Cerner training. There’s not too much more I can say about that. One more day of classroom orientation and then I will be let loose to orient on the floor.
Getting to work….. Have you ever driven in Charleston, West Virginia? It seems that everything is within 5 miles or so, but I’m really confused as to how I got there. I have one thing to say, Thank God for Google Maps! I start out on one road, get on the interstate for a minute, get off onto a road and then onto the turnpike and then onto another interstate onto another road. At least that’s how it feels, I may have exaggerated a bit. It doesn’t take long and the traffic flows pretty good- a lot better than home actually. I think what is throwing me off as well are the mountains or hills. They are way more than just rolling hills, but seem to be less than mountains?
The apartment complex that we are living in has some large hills. I’m convinced I will be in really good shape by going for a walk around here once a day. Yesterday after walking up one of the particularly steep hills I wondered how I ever thought I might be able to hike the Appalachian Trail. I guess one foot after the other, that’s what I hear, but I’m thinking I better get used to some of these hills around here.
So, things are going well and we are settling in. I can’t wait to get out and explore the area.
