Christmas At Home

December 28, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

We’ve spent a full two years away from home at this point.  Last year, 2017, we traveled out West and lived in Arizona, Washington and California.  This year, 2018, we have lived in Florida and West Virginia.  Summerville, SC has always been home.  When I worked in Charleston before traveling, my patients would often ask … [Read more…]

Wandering Tent Rocks

July 14, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

As fun thing for our family to do together we decided to join the ‘painting rocks movement’.  We thought it would be fun to paint rocks and leave them in places for others to find.  And since we are a traveling family we thought it would be a lot of fun to leave … [Read more…]

Babcock State Park, WV

July 5, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

I have really been wanting to go camping lately.  I love camping.  Unfortunately, the other members of my family aren’t feeling right now- especially with this’heat wave’. Yep, it’s summer here in West Virginia.  It’s in the 90s this week with a ‘real feel’ over 100.  So, no one wants to camp (even though it … [Read more…]

Beckley Coal Mine

June 25, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

About two weeks ago we decided to head to Beckley and check out one of their attractions- a real life coal mine.  That’s quite the novelty for a couple of South Carolinians that have no coal mining experience. The tour when we first arrived was full and they actually gave us a discount to join … [Read more…]

Visiting New River Gorge Bridge

May 27, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

We headed about an hour and a half away to visit the New River Gorge Bridge.  It was built in 1977 and, at one time, was the longest arch bridge in the world.  Today, it is the second largest arch bridge in the world.  Pretty neat, right?  Our first stop was the New River … [Read more…]

West Virginia Love

May 27, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

I think I’m falling in love with West Virginia. I work the last three days (my 12-hour shifts) and every morning I get to see the mountains on the way to work.  When I complete my work day and head back home I get to see the mountains on my drive.  When I look out … [Read more…]

Pros and Cons of RV Living

May 15, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

I’m no expert at living in an RV, but I did live in our RV for most of 2017 with a husband, two kids, a dog and a turtle, so I feel I am equipped to talk a bit on the subject. We own a 2012 32 foot bunkhouse Coachman Freelander.  It is a … [Read more…]

First Day of Orientation West Virginia Style and some other Musings

May 11, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

Well, our furniture was delivered yesterday, so I was able to sleep in a ‘real bed’ the night before my first day of work. Today was a classroom day- sitting in front of the computer all. day. long. – Cerner training.  There’s not too much more I can say about that.  One more day of … [Read more…]

Good Morning from West Virginia!

May 9, 2018 by JessicaKrauel 2 Comments

Well, we made it to West Virginia yesterday evening.  Our trip was pretty uneventful.  We finished packing up the last minute things (refrigerated food, bedding, etc.) in the U-Haul trailer and made it on the road around 9:00 am.  I have pretty much given up on trying to head out early at this point because … [Read more…]

Enjoying Nature at Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands

March 28, 2018 by JessicaKrauel Leave a Comment

Today we visited another Wetland area, Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands.   Walking up to the center there is a butterfly garden on each side of the walkway.  There is also signs labeling some surrounding trees and plants.  I have found that this is fun way for the kids to learn about the different … [Read more…]
