I am enjoying West Virginia. This morning we are headed out to see a 4th of July parade in a near-by town. I have loved passing the towns and seeing their decorations out.
This was one big Independence Day Parade. An hour and a half of non stop parade. We have a whole bag full of candy and goodies. It was a lot of fun.
Despite what the media will tell you- we do still have a few proud Americans around here. I’m not going to get into all of that dangerous territory where tempers run hot.
Speaking of hot. West Virginia is still hot. 97 degrees hot, with a real feel over 108 degrees. We all turned red and Jaelyn started feeling bad (red hair, pale skin= low tolerance for heat and sun) and had to go inside a restaurant, get a drink and cool off. I’m still sporting a headache from the heat, but it was still good times. It’s the mountains- I didn’t think it got so hot here. Sadly mistaken, I am.
Juliette’s new obsession with Star Wars must be rubbing off on me. We’ve begun watching all the Star Wars movies from the beginning, the beginning of the story that is. She has even been reading the books. I’m enjoying it.
Last night we watched, Let There Be Light, I enjoyed it. It’s about an atheist who has a near-death experience. A good movie, but a bit heart wrenching, especially as I’m still mourning a friend. If you watch the movie you’ll get a bit more insight into that.
And one of the books I’m reading is Dear Zari, by Zarghuna Kargar. It’s stories from Afghan women. It has been very eye-opening for me. I knew these women were treated poorly, but I’m not sure I had a true grasp of what that was. It’s bad. I certainly encourage you to check it out. Another reason that I am thankful to be an American. Despite all of our problems, this is a great country. God Bless and Happy 4th!
