On Tuesday morning we left the Wal-Mart parking lot in Oxford, Alabama early(for us), around 7:40 and got back onto I-20W.
Today we got to see the Mississippi River. The Louisiana state border began on the bridge.
We stopped at a rest area in Louisiana. According to Juliette the air in Louisiana is fresh. Both of the kids seemed to enjoy getting out and walking around. After it raining most of the day, the day before and the sky being cloudy all morning seeing the sun is wonderful.
This night commemorates our first stay in a KOA. We spent the night at the KOA in Shreveport, Louisiana and it was one to never be forgotten. I sent this text to my friend the next day:
Last night I was looking forward to a nice, long shower at the campground. We walked into the bathroom and it was nicer than some we are used to. Very clean. There are three stalls, which is perfect – one stall for each of us. The stall that Juliette goes into is missing the handle on the hot side so I step in to so if I can hand turn it. When I go to turn it the whole piece unscrews from the wall. I try to screw it back on and can’t. Hot water is shooting from the wall like a fire hydrant. The girls are oblivious to all of this because I had Juliette go to the next stall for her shower and Jaelyn was already showering. The bathroom is now flooding. I barrel out of the bathroom barefoot and wet and almost knock into a guy smoking. I mumbled excuse me, but I’m on a mission to find help for the flooding bathroom. It’s 8:00, the office is closed, and I see no emergency number. I start back to the bathroom, unsure of what I will do, when I see the man I had almost tackled- he’s wearing a KOA hat. I ask if he works here and he does. I start stuttering, trying to relay my shower story and how I was attacked by the water from the wall. Needless to say I did not get my nice, relaxing, warm, long campground shower. I went back to the camper and took my first camper shower. I think I have PTSD. I took pictures because I knew it would be funny later.
Her response was one of a great, compassionate friend in my time of need:
Oh my goodness! That’s funny, but not, but is. You’re right, it will be funny later. It’s one of those memories you’ll never forget. Check that one off the list. LOL. The dude must have been like, wow, lady. Camp much? Bahahahaha. I laugh cause that so would have been me. Hahahaha. What are the chances??? I’m glad you took a pic. That my friend is what they call a classic.
After I sent her the pictures:
Bahahahahahahahahaha. I’m laughing my head off. Oh my word!
I say I wish I could have taken a picture of the KOA guy.
Her:
Stop!!!! Oh my word!!! I just peed a little. That’s great. It really is. Oh my word! You just gave me enough laughs for a week.
For the record I am not saying anything negative about KOA, other than my shower experience, we had a great stay and I learned a valuable lesson- I am not a plumber and should not be attempting to practice as one.
