Well, today is our second full day in Stockton. I would say that it is way too early to have a full formed opinion of the place. This is my fifth travel nursing assignment and I have definitely learned that places tend to grown on you and a lot of time first opinions are not always correct. So, I will wait, probably until its time to move on, before making any profound statements.
What I can tell you is that we are surrounded by farmland where we are staying. Tons of farmland. When we pull out of the RV park I can almost imagine that I am in Marion, SC or Conway where you are surrounded by corn, soybean and tobacco fields. I definitely see corn, I’m not sure about the other crops.
While the temperatures get just as hot as my hometown, there is little to no humidity. Right now as I type this I am sitting on my bed in my room with the window open and the fan blowing. It feels great. You can feel quite warm in the sun, but sit in the shade and it is comfortable. At home you will sweat miserably no matter sun or shade due to the miserable humidity that accompanies the heat in the lowcountry of SC. The temperature also dips into the 50s overnight here in Stockton- again, that doesn’t happen at home.
I love the view from the our RV. I can see the river. We also have a few large trees behind us, including a willow. I have also enjoyed two sunsets over the water that I have failed to capture on my camera as of yet. So far, so good in Stockton. To be continued.
